Why less is more, especially in skincare

There are so many things that I just didn’t understand about skincare when I started – at the tender age of 15. Starting this journey really opened my eyes to a lot of things and that’s what we want to share with you. And listen, if you haven’t started using skincare until now or at all, don’t worry it’s never too late to start.

You deserve the best and you deserve to learn how to give your skin the best too.
Now, there will always be bacteria on your skin, irrespective of how frequently you wash your face – that’s called the skin microbiota. It’s the ecosystem of good and bad bacteria. And the good bacteria is really good.

Trust me, we’ll try and make this as digestible as possible. And please for the love of sweet dreams, please don’t rush to cleanse and scrub your face. Your ecosystem is so important.
In essence, the skin microbiota is crucial to keeping your skin balanced and healthy – it’s only when there is a significant change in the microbiota that the skin can, in turn, stress itself out and that’s when irritations occur. This, unfortunately, is becoming a ‘new normal’ in the wake of low-quality/cheaper synthetic additives in skincare.

For those of you that have had a level of skin irritation, somehow we’ve grown accustomed to leaning on dermatologists to rebalance our skin, for acne and irritation treatments – but it doesn’t have to be that time-consuming or that expensive.
Your skincare shouldn’t feel like a luxury that you aren’t able to afford. With Fjör, we’re looking at how you can take a more simplistic and minimal approach to your skincare to keep your microbiota more balanced, minimize the risk of skin irritations, and feel more comfortable in your skin. All with a simple serum to add into a simple skincare routine (if you haven’t signed up for our newsletter to find out when this drops, don’t walk – run, sign up here)
